Well-Being
Rochdale’s Local Offer
From 1 September 2014 all local authorities had to publish a Local Offer which provides information and advice on the services and
provision available in the area for children and young people with SEN and/or a disability. Rochdale Borough Council consulted with parents, carers and young people on the Local Offer and obtained feedback on what they wanted to see included.
Operation Encompass
As part of St John Fisher RC Primary School commitment to keeping children safe, we are proud to be part of Operation Encompass.
Operation Encompass is a unique Police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.
Being part of Encompass means our school will receive a notification from Greater Manchester Police before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved in or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous day. The information is given in confidence to the schools Key Adult and will enable us to provide the best possible support for the child.
The Key Adults at our school are Mrs Nicole Hadfield, Mrs Deborah Hunt, Mrs Lucy Roden, Mr Lee Buckley and Mrs Jayne Scholes our Caritas Social Worker. If you have any questions or wish to know more about our involvement in Operation Encompass, please do not hesitate to contact the Headteacher, Mrs Nicole Hadfield at school (office@st-johnfisher.co.uk or 0161 643 3271)
Prevent Duty
The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 requires us to have ‘due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This is known as the Prevent Duty.
The Prevent Duty was created by the Home Office as part of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy. It lays out guidance for local councils to follow to prevent people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
It’s ultimately about safeguarding vulnerable people from harm, just like other types of safeguarding, such as child sexual exploitation (CSE), child criminal exploitation (CCE), bullying or domestic abuse. For further information see the links below.

Early Help
Every family goes through challenging times at some point, and it is ok to ask for help. Early help means working with you and your family so that small problems don’t become big problems, and help you be the very best family you can be.
Early help is for everybody, for families with children and young people of any age. It is about helping as early as possible; from pregnancy to your child being 18.
It is about looking at what help you need as a family before you start to struggle. The earlier we can get the support, the better the outcome. It is your choice whether or not to have early help and you can stop at any point. You can say who sees your information. The only time the person you talked to has to share information without your consent is;
• If they think you or a child is at risk of harm
• If they think that the information could help prevent or detect a serious crime
